ICC Women's Basketball Tops Barton

Both the Men's and Women's Basketball teams at Independence Community College started their Jayhawk Conference schedules at home Wednesday night with 1-0 records. Both teams moved to 3-0 overall in their respective seasons. Despite no fans being allowed in attendance currently for COVID precautions, the Pirates still rocked the ICC Field House in two very exciting victories.

In the Women's game, the #DreamU Pirates took a 7-point lead into halftime against the Barton Cougars on a buzzer-beating second-quarter 3-pointer from freshman Azahara Lopez. After extending the lead in the third quarter, the Cougars battled back in the fourth before falling to the Pirates 81-72. ICC had four players score in double figures, including Eriel West and Delani Harris with 13 each. Jasmine Elder and Laurie Cren added 10 each. Freshman Rapaluchi Ngorka notched 12 total rebounds and scored free-throws late in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

ICC's Men's and Women's Basketball teams return to action this Saturday afternoon at the ICC Field House when they host Northwest Kansas Technical College.
