Anca Stoenescu, a competitor in the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, played for the Independence Pirates Women's Basketball team, becoming a Jayhawk All-Conference Second Team selection in the 2000-01 season. Her squad at ICC went 31-2, won the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division Championship, and finished ranked #5 nationally in the final NJCAA poll.
The new Olympic event of 3-on-3 Women's Basketball is making its debut in the Tokyo games. Anca competes for Team Romania and is part of the first women's basketball team ever to compete in the Olympics from Romania.
