ATHENS, Texas – This weekend was an interesting test for the Independence Lady Pirates as they picked up a split in the Budke/Serna Classic. In the first game Friday, the Lady Pirates came out prepared, but were eventually overpowered by the #4 Trinity Valley Cardinals falling 78-43. In the second game on Saturday, the Lady Pirates competed heavily in a tight contest and picked up a victory defeating the Grayson Vikings 77-75.

Independence (5-2) is at home Wednesday night hosting the Dodge City Conquistadors in the conference opener with tip-off at 6 pm.
