
Pirate Softball players Emily Wedel and Gabreilla Simpson have been named to the 2024 All-KJCCC Softball Second Team. Wedel a sophomore from Whitewater, Kansas a two year starter played in all 87 games of her career for ICC. During the 2024 season Emily scored 38 runs, stole 29 bases, and held a .405 batting average. She caught 75 balls, with 67 put outs and only recorded 5 errors for a fielding percentage of .933. “Emily was a key player in our success this year, by far one of the toughest athletes I have ever coached. Emily’s speed is one of the many things that made her such a threat this year, both offensively and defensively”, commented Head Coach Sam Allen.
Sophomore left-handed pitcher Gabriella Simpson from St. Michaels, Arizona, appeared in all 39 games this season, starting 20 and securing 14 wins on the mound. Simpson pitched 199 innings and struck out 190 batters with an ERA of 3.69. While driving in 29 RBI’s, with a batting average of .342 on 120 trips to the plate. “Gabby was truly the heart of this year’s team, she is one of those athletes you just can’t replace. She gave us a chance to win every time she stepped foot in the circle”, said Allen.
