INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - The Independence Volleyball team dropped their second home match this week, as they fell to Seminole State in four sets Thursday evening.
The two teams squared off just five days ago at the Seminole Tri-Match, which also resulted in a win for the Trojans, in five sets.
The Pirates got off to a great start, coming out of the gates firing and taking the first set 25-20.
Seminole State bounced back in a big way, as the Pirates struggled to remain competitive for the remainder of the match, losing the next three sets 16-25, 12-25, and 15-25.
Freshman Keeley Brown was the Pirates most efficient hitter as she tallied eight kills on 15 attempts, while Sophia Reyes paced the Pirates defensively with 21 digs. Riley Griffin and Kimberly Owens, the Pirates duo of setters, had 12 assists and 11 assists respectively, while Alyssa Trane pitched in three service aces in the loss.
The Pirates will be off this weekend before returning for a busy next week, all kicking off with a KJCCC road match against the Scotties of Highland CC on Wednesday.
