INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - The Independence Community College Men's Basketball team had three players honored for their efforts this season by being named to the KJCCC All-Conference team.
Chiante Tramble was named to the first team, while Chris Dockery was named to the second team, and Trashaun Combs-Pierce was named an honorable mention.
Tramble, a freshman guard from Edmond, Oklahoma, led the KJCCC in scoring with 23.3 points per game and eclipsed the 30-point mark in six games this season. His season high came back on February 1st when he poured in 41 points against Hutchinson. Tramble also had team highs, in assists with 123, assists per game with 4.8, good for tops in the KJCCC, and assist to turnover ratio at 1.3. Tramble shot 46% from the field, 31% from three and 79% from the line.
Dockery, a sophomore forward from Las Vegas, had a fantastic season averaging 16.9 points, seven rebounds, and three assists per game. The Weber State transfer saved his best for last, as he had a season high 27 points in the Pirates playoff game against Garden City. Dockery finished the season with five double-doubles, including his season high in rebounds December 4th against Garden City with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Dockery finished in the top 5 of the KJCCC in field goal percentage at 57%.
Trashaun Combs-Pierce, a freshman form Norman, Oklahoma, was the final honoree as he was named an Honorable Mention. The 6’8 forward averaged 11.6 points, and 7.8 rebounds a game. The freshman broke out back on January 15th, as he had 30 points and 14 rebounds in a thrilling OT win over Barton CC. Combs-Pierce led the team with 9 double-doubles on the season.
The efforts of these three helped lead the Pirates to a 12-19 overall record, and the 10th seed in the KJCCC tournament. 12 wins is an 11 win improvement from a year ago.
