Previous College Sports Played: Basketball

A native of Stalowa Wola, Poland, Ewa Laskowska definitely went down as one of the great “student-athletes” to ever participate at Independence Community College.

Not only was she an All-Jayhawk East performer, Laskowska was named NJCAA All-American and Kodak All-American twice during her Lady Pirate basketball career and was instrumental in the team’s 34-4 record and national runner-up finish her freshman season at ICC. She was named the Most Valuable Player at the Region VI Tournament and was a member of the NJCAA All-Tournament Team.

In addition to her performance on the basketball floor, Laskowska got it done in the classroom as well. She was an Academic All-American by the NJCAA.

After finishing her playing career at Kansas State University, Laskowska went into the coaching ranks and returned to Independence as an assistant. During that time, the Lady Pirates won back-to-back Jayhawk East titles, including the 2000-01 squad that went 31-2 and finished fifth nationally.

Laskowska is currently in her 10th season as an assistant coach at the University of Texas in El Paso for former Lady Pirate head coach Keitha (Green) Adams.
