Lady Roadrunners softball team splits doubleheader with Independence

February 27 Independence Community College at Branson, Missouri

Returning to competition after a 17-day layoff, the SFCC Lady Roadrunners (1-3) split a doubleheader with Independence Community College in Branson, winning the first game 6-4 before falling in game two 5-4.

In game one, sophomore Kelsey Webb led the SFCC offense with a home run and two runs batted in. Sophomore outfielder Ellie Eckert had a hit, scored a pair of runs, and stole a base. Freshman Alexis Hughes also scored two runs.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Harris allowed four runs, only two of which were earned and struck out seven.

In game two, sophomore Olivia Butler hit a home run and drove in two runs. Sophomore Alexis Gilliland doubled and drove in two runs.

Sophomore pitcher Tabitha Imhoff got the start in the circle for SFCC. Imhoff pitched four innings, gave up four hits, one run, and struck out three. Sophomore pitcher Sadie Kumm took the loss in relief. Kumm pitched 2.1 innings, allowed four runs on four hits, only three of which were earned and struck out two.
