Beavers outgunned by Pirates in home loss

PRATT, Kan.- The Beavers losing streak has now reached five games, as the Independence Pirates asserted themselves early and often in Pratt's 84-67 loss.

Jada Moss controlled the paint for the Beavers, scoring a career-high 23 points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds. Moss scored on eight of her nine field goal attempts, and was 7-11 from the free throw line. Chariah Daniels also managed double-figures for the Beavers, as the Wichita native was credited with 11 points on 4-9 shooting. Daniels' six offensive rebounds was the highest total among the two teams, as the bundle of energy also managed three assists and three steals.

Most of the peripheral statistics were similar for both teams, but Independence was more efficient from the field, shooting 46% compared to Pratt's 39%, as the Pirates also created 14 more shot attempts. Pratt also saw a dozen free throw attempts miss the mark, as the Beavers connected on only 63% of its attempts from the charity stripe.

The Pirates led from the opening tip and never wavered, jumping out to a 10-3 lead after the first four minutes. The Beavers were able to trim the lead to as little three points in the first quarter, but never got closer the rest of the game.

Next, the Beavers travel to Iola for a matchup with Allen County on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
