Indy Volleyball Earns Their First Victory of the Season

Indy Volleyball earns their first victory of the season over Southwestern JV 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20).  Sophomore Patricia Seller led the offensive attack with 11 kills while hitting .474% for the match.  Freshman Brionna Byers chipped in 6 kills with a .556% to lead the Pirates offense that hit .274 for the match.  Freshman Mar Danes added a team high 5 aces to go along with 9 kills, with sophomore Hannia Rios leading the offense with 30 assists.  The Pirates totaled 34 digs for the match with freshman libero Jonidsha Nieves leading the way with 12 digs while adding 4 aces.  "It's always good to get that first win of the season out early.  We were able to get a lot of players some minutes, which will go along way as the season goes on."  From head coach Chris Taylor

Indy CC closes out the tri-match at Cowley by dropping a 3-0 (26-28, 22-25, 11-25) decision to host Cowley County Community College.  The Pirates were led offensively by sophomore Patricia Seller with 11 kills and freshman Mar Danes with 8 kills while hitting .353%.  Sophomore Hannia Rios paced the offense with 22 assists.  Defensively, the Pirates were led by Danes with 10 digs with Rios and Seller chipping in with 7 apiece. 

Indy CC hits the road to start conference play and comes home with a decisive 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-16, 25-15) victory over host Pratt Community College to improve their overall record to 2-2 and 1-0 in conference play.  Indy CC put down a season high 50 kills for the match with sophomore Natasha Colon leading the charge with 13 kills with a .379 hitting percentage.  Two other pirates were able to hit double figures with kills with sophomore Patricia Seller and freshman Mar Danes adding 12 and 10 kills respectively.  Freshman Paola Morales led the charge in the 4th and deciding set by coming in and adding 5 kills with a .417% to finish off Pratt.  A trio of Pirates led the defensive charge that dug a season high 73 digs for the match.  Danes and Colon each added their second double-double of the season with 21 and 18 digs, with freshman libero Jonidsha Nieves right there with 19 digs.  "Starting 1-0 in conference play is great, especially starting with a road win, which are always hard to come by.  The team played some of their best volleyball offensively and defensively today.
