COFFEYVILLE, Kan. - The Independence Lady Pirates closed out the regular season traveling down the road to take on the Coffeyville Red Ravens. The Lady Pirates fell behind and were unable to get back into the match falling in straight sets. 

In the first set, the Lady Pirates fell behind early as Coffeyville began on a 2-0 run, but a service error put Independence on the board. The Red Ravens delivered two straight kills to go up 4-1 and an error pushed the lead out to four. 

A service error cut the lead to three, but a kill pushed it back to four before a kill by Kiersten Vincent made it 6-3. Coffeyville went on a run of 2-0 but a kill from Jessi Lewman made the score 8-4. A 2-0 run pushed the lead to 10-4 for Coffeyville before Patricia Seller cut the lead to five with a kill, but a 3-1 run had the Red Ravens in the lead 13-6. 

Briana Prescott delivered a kill, but Coffeyville responded with a block making it 14-7. A 2-1 run brought Independence within six before a kill made the score 16-9 and a 2-0 run pushed the Red Ravens to a nine-point advantage. The Lady Pirates were outscored 7-3 and dropped the set 12-25.  

The second set began with a 3-2 Independence run after a kill and an ace by Destiny Thomas. A hit out of bounds pushed the lead to two, but a run of 3-0 had Coffeyville in the lead 5-4. The Lady Pirates responded with a 2-0 run after a kill by Vincent to take a 6-5 lead. The Red Ravens tied it up but a kill by Seller gave Independence a 7-6 advantage. 

A run of 4-0 regained the lead for Coffeyville at 10-7 and another kill pushed the lead to four. Natasha Colon delivered a kill cutting the score to 11-8 and Seller responded to a kill making the score 12-9, but three consecutive errors had the Lady Pirates trailing 15-9. Independence battled, but a 10-5 run by the Red Ravens ended the set with the Lady Pirates falling 14-25. 

In the third set, Prescott answered a 2-0 run cutting into the lead, but a 3-0 run made the score 5-1 for Coffeyville. The Red Ravens made a run of 2-1 before a kill by Lewman cut the lead to four, but a run of 3-0 pushed the lead to seven before a kill by Seller. 

An ace by Vincent made it 10-5 but a 2-0 run had the score at 12-5 before an error. A kill pushed the Coffeyville lead to 13-6, but the errors continued as a serve to the net cut the lead to six. Colon delivered making the score 13-8 and the teams exchanged blows before a combo block from Thomas and Vincent cut the lead to four. 

Back to back kills pushed the lead to 16-10 and Independence answered on a 2-0 run, but an error pushed the Coffeyville lead to five before a kill made the score 18-12. The Lady Pirates answered a 2-0 run with a block from Lewman and an ace by Hannia Rios had them within six, but Independence was then outscored 5-0 dropping the set 14-25 ending the match. 

The Lady Pirates (8-20, 5-11) are on the road Wednesday traveling to play the Colby Trojans in the KJCCC Conference Tournament with first serve at 6:30 pm.
