Lady Pirates Victorious In Sweep Of Garden City

GARDEN CITY, Kan. - The Independence Lady Pirates came together Saturday night in a full team effort for a victory over the Garden City Lady Busters in a three-set battle (26-24, 25-22, 25-17).  

"I was very pleased with the execution of the players in the match," coach Daniela Pena said. "We made some substitutions that worked to our advantage. The match was very intense, and we are happy to come out with a win going forward to the next opponent." 

The player of the match was Noleyshka Santiago, who delivered five aces in the victorious sweep and scored other points in much needed situations. 

"This win feels amazing," Santiago said. "We did a great job as a team and individually too. We gave it our all and we saw the fruits of the effort." 

"Going forward we play Butler and they're a good team, but I expect nothing less than 100% effort to bring another win to the program."   

Independence (6-14, 3-7) returns home to ICC Field House Monday October 8 hosting the Butler Grizzlies with first serve set for 6:30 pm
