Nkoyock & Larsson Awarded KJCCC All-Conference Honors

Independence Pirates Women’s Basketball’s Merveille Nkoyock has been named to the 2024 KJCCC All-Conference First Team. Playing in 19 overall conference games, Nkoyock averaged 16.9 points per a game, shot 37.4% from the field and 35.8% from beyond the arc. She consistently put up impressive single-game numbers including a game-high 34 points against Butler, hitting 5 of 11 from the 3-point line. Merveille finished the season ranked 3rd in free throw percentage, 6th in points per game, and 11th in total number of points within conference play. Merveille was KJCCC Conference Player of the Week for Week 8 of the season.

"Merveille is one of the most dynamic offensive players in the entire country. She is one of the very best scorers I have ever coached, because she can do everything. Merveille is an elite rim finisher and can shoot it from range off the dribble. She was the X factor for us on offense this year. We weren't the same team without her”, said Indy Pirates Head Coach Rob Beckmann.

Sophomore point guard Sabrina Larsson earned KJCCC All-Conference Honorable Mention accolades. Throughout the conference schedule she played over 35 minutes each game, averaging 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and shot 75% from the free throw line.

"Sabrina is an incredibly humble and sincere kid who was our leader this season. She has a lot of natural athleticism and a passion for the game. We were able to push pace and have a fast, exciting style of play on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball because of Sabrina. I recruited her for almost a year when I was previously the Associate Head Coach. I'm very appreciative of Sabrina for being our leader in my first year as Head Coach at Independence; she was a key part of our success”, added Coach Beckmann.
