Lady Pirates Host Rival Coffeyville In Midweek Showdown

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - It's been an up and down season thus far, but Wednesday January 23 ICC Field House gets exciting as the Independence Lady Pirates (8-9, 3-7) take on Montgomery County rival, the Coffeyville Red Ravens (4-16, 3-8).

"Every conference game is important, and you want to try and win as many as you can at home because it's a lot harder to win on the road," coach Leslie Crane said. "This game will come down to defense and rebounding as any game does. If you can out rebound people and keep your turnovers down, while creating turnovers it's good numbers along with 100 percent effort and how much you want to play. This is something we preach on and are constantly having to get better at, but if we can do all these things, we should be ok."

"I expect all of our players to play hard and smart as this is a team sport and we all have to work together the entire time and be prepared to win the game."

Independence averages 66.5 points per game along with 39.6 rebounds per game while shooting 35.2 percent from the field where Coffeyville averages 53.1 points per game with 35.4 rebounds per game and 34.6 percent from the field.

Wednesday night's contest is set to tipoff at 6 pm and can be seen on the livestream at http://www.indypirates.com/fan_zone/live_stream
