October 29, 2018

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - The Independence Lady Pirates have completed their preseason scrimmages and the regular season is approaching. The preparation has been a long process, but the expectations are high for the upcoming games.

"Our scrimmages this season went well with us finishing 5-1," coach Leslie Crane said. "The team has learned some good lessons, the team chemistry is coming together, and they have learned just 'how' to play together at this level."

"Our sophomores have been doing a good job of helping the newcomers understand the game and what is expected of them, while playing hard and performing well themselves." "We are very excited and looking forward to the start of our season this weekend."

The Lady Pirates begin their season on the road traveling to Moberly, Mo. To take on the Southwestern Illinois Blue Storm on Friday Nov. and Marshalltown Tigers on Saturday Nov. in the Moberly Classic. Both matchups are set for a 1 pm tipoff.
