Kiyoshi Harris is entering his first season as Head Football Coach for the Independence Community College Pirates, after spending the last two seasons as Associate Head Coach, Offensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. He has coached for twenty-two years on the offensive line, including sixteen years at the collegiate level. Prior to joining Independence, Coach Harris coached for twelve years at California Junior Colleges, including ten years at Chaffey College. During his time at Chaffey College, Coach Harris held positions of Offensive Coordinator, Run Game Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator. Coach Harris also served as an Offensive Line Coach at College of the Desert for two years and was the Tight Ends & Fullbacks Coach at the University of Redlands.  Before coaching at the collegiate level, Coach Harris was the head coach (2003) and Offensive Coordinator at Vista Del Lago High School in Moreno Valley, California. He also coached at Moreno Valley High School and Canyon Springs High School. As a player, Coach Harris played offensive line at Rocky Mountain College and San Bernardino Valley College (JuCo).

 Coach Harris and his wife, Julie, have two daughters (Mariah and Jordan) and two sons (Cristian and Kaleb). When he is able to find free time, Coach Harris enjoys working out, fishing, and watching movies on Netflix. The coaching staff is especially appreciative of Coach Harris’ wife Julie, for regularly providing home cooked meals during the long days on the job when they are away from their families.
