Pirates Host Ellsworth In Final Game Of Season

November 9, 2018

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - With one more game left, the Independence Pirates (1-8) play their final game of the 2018 season at home this Saturday against the Ellsworth Panthers (1-9). The Pirates battled last week and fell on the road to the Highland Scotties, 24-21, while the Panthers were defeated last week by the Coffeyville Red Ravens, 28-7.

"This week we just have to play hard for the whole 60 minutes," coach Jason Brown said. "This game will really test our team and see if we have any pride left in us to go out on a high note. As soon as possible, we'll go out and try to find some guys for the team next year and bring them here."

"Our defense is really banged up, so we'll be digging deep there and as far as quarterbacks go, I'll probably play all three guys by quarter and whoever plays the best we'll see them in the fourth quarter."

Independence totaled 321 yards of total offense and was led in passing by Chase Hildreth who went 7-for-10 passing for 112 yards and a touchdown, while finding the endzone on a run from quarterback Jay Jones who had 46 yards on 15 carries, running back Shermari Jones who had 11 carries for 70 yards and a 46-yard touchdown pass from Hildreth to Roy LivingstoneEllsworth totaled 122 yards of total offense and scored its only touchdown on a 13-yard pass from Joshua Shim to Jordan Foster.

Saturday night's kickoff is at 7 pm. General admission is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for grades K-12. Children ages 5 and under get in free along with students who present their ICC ID.  Fans can also stream the game at http://www.949kind.com/icc-sports/
