Jonathan Banks
This week was a complete turnaround for the Tulane Green Wave and even better for quarterback Jonathan Banks. The former Pirate signal caller went 12 for 21 passing for 127 yards while also picking up 32 yards rushing on 11 carries Friday night in a 40-24 victory over the Memphis Tigers.
Tulane (2-3) is on the road next week taking on the Cincinatti Bearcats.
Delrick Abrams
The Colorado Buffaloes are off to a great start with their Cinderella Story type season. Defeating all opponents thus far has raised expectations for the program. One impact player on defense is former Independence cornerback Delrick Abrams who has been having a great season with consistent impact in the backfield. Abrams recorded two tackles in a 38-16 victory over the UCLA Bruins.
Colorado (4-0) returns to Boulder next week hosting the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Rakeem Boyd
Another Saturday passed by and even though the Razorbacks failed to get the win, Rakeem Boyd continued to improve picking up 47 yards on 10 carries while also hauling in 33 yards on four receptions.
Arkansas (1-4) returns to Fayetteville next week hosting Alabama.
Calvin Jackson
A key receiver last year for Independence, Calvin Jackson finds himself playing for the Washington State this season as the Cougars are in a battle to compete for the Pac-12 Title. Jackson contributed with one reception for eight yards in a 28-24 victory over Utah.
Washington State (4-1) travels to Corvallis next week to take on the Oregon State Beavers.
Jamal Scott
It's been a long season for Eastern Illinois, but on Saturday the Panthers were victorious with help of former Independence running back Jamal Scott who picked up 85 yards on 12 carries and scoring a touchdown. Scott also had one reception for five yards in a 52-38 win over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.
Eastern Illinois (1-4) returns home to Charleston next week hosting the Murray State Racers.
Carlos Thompson
Last week, the Missouri Western State Griffons picked up a monumental victory and former Pirate receiver Carlos Thompson had a huge night. Saturday, Thompson had three receptions for 18 yards in a 38-7 victory over the Washburn Ichabods.
Missouri Western State (3-2) travels to Joplin next week to take on the Missouri Southern State Lions.
