FORMER DT GOODEN SET TO MAKE VOLUNTEER IMPACT

This time last year, Emitt Gooden was gearing up for his last season at Independence Community College. His final year as a Pirate was seen by many to be Gooden's 'Last Chance' at acheiving his dream - to play for a Division I program.

It wasn't easy for Gooden, but his dominance in the trenches helped lead the Pirates to their first Conference Title in 30 years and the college's first bowl victory in school history.

Before he graduated in December 2017, Gooden had received numerous offers from perennial Division I powerhouses, with many believing he was bound for Fayetteville, Arkansas to suit up for the Razorbacks.

However, Gooden surprised many with his announcement on signing day that he had accepted an offer from Tennessee - he was now a Vol, and is expected to make an immediate impact for his new school in 2018.

Mike Griffith from seccountry.com recently caught up with the former Pirate to discuss the upcoming season and how he came to play in Knoxville, Tennessee.

We wish Emitt all the best as a Volunteer, and know he will be a force in Orange.

Good Luck Emitt!
