Unfortunately, the Pirates came up short in their first game of the season with a 22-20 loss to Fort Scott.  With only 3 total points scored in the 2nd half (a field goal in the 4th by Fort Scott kicker, Brody Southwell), it was a defensive battle and came down to the wire.

There were many signs of promise and progress for Independence, and the Pirates are now hungrier than ever to get the victory this week against Garden City (2-0).

The Pirates depart on Friday for their game @ #14-ranked Garden City.  Kickoff is set for 1pm.
