Golden Eagles sweep Independence

MCCOOK, NE - The Golden Eagles (7-2) finished off the McCook Invitational 4-0 after beating Independence (1-6) on Saturday afternoon. 

The Golden Eagles took care of the Pirates in straight sets, winning 25-14, 25-16, and 25-14.

Rigan McInerney (Gillette, Wyo.) compiled her second double-double of the day, finishing the match with 10 kills and 16 digs, ending the invitational with 52 kills and 54 digs.

Michela De Stefano (Rome, Italy) finished with the second-most digs in the match with 15 and ended the weekend with 54 total digs. 

Kalme Moncavo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) tallied eight kills, three aces, and two blocks. McKenzie Earl (Rawlins, Wyo.) recorded 10 kills in the win. 

Shelby Veenstra (Twin Falls, Idaho) ended the McCook Invitational with 133 assists while Christian Blake (Boise, Idaho) had 29 kills and Shae Halls (Carpenter, Wyo.) finished with 62 digs. 

The Golden Eagles will head to Twin Falls, Idaho for the CSI Invitational starting Friday when they take on Salt Lake at 11:00 am.
