One of the top JUCO Wide Receiver coaches is headed into his second season with the Independence Pirates as the Wide Receiver’s coach and his first year as the passing game coordinator. After Last season he sent players Jalin Holmes to Oregon State and Reggie Akles who was ranked the #1 Athlete in Junior College to New Mexico State. From 2007-2009 as a player, he received All-American and All-conference honors as a freshman WR for the ICC Pirates. He was named the KJCCC player of the week in the third week of the season when he set school records with 12 receptions for 232 yards which is still current. He also Led the National Junior College Athletic Association Region IV and KJCCC football players as a freshman in receptions and receiving yards per game. After playing with the pirates he signed to the University of Colorado. There he played under Dan Hawkins who is now the HC at UC Davis and WR coach Robert Prince who is currently with the Dallas Cowboys. After college, he played 1 season as a professional football player. He spent 6 seasons as the Wide Receiver and Pass Game Coordinator for the Blackville Hilda Hawks before coming to ICC. He also was born and raised in Blackville where he was a standout athlete. He received All-State honors all while going 15-0 and helping Blackville Hilda win a state championship under Hall of Fame coach David Berry. He currently holds records for touchdown catches and interceptions at Blackville Hilda. Coach Simmons is the son of Thomas Ann Elmore and Andrey Simmons. He also has a son Omarion Simmons who currently plays for pirates.
