The Pratt Community College Beavers hosted the Pirates of Independence Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 14 for a conference matchup in the Beaver Dome. The Beavers were able to pick up their second straight conference win in front of a nice sized crowd on Valentine's Day night.
The first quarter was closely contested with Pratt taking a slight lead of 18-16 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, the Beavers were able to extend their lead with a score of 21-13, bringing the halftime score to 39-29 in their favor. However, the third quarter saw a significant turnaround as Independence outscored the Beavers 16-4 and tied the game at 43-43 going into the final quarter.
Both teams fought hard in the fourth quarter, but Pratt secured the victory by outscoring the Pirates 13-10 in the final quarter. The game ended with a final score of 56-55 in favor of the Beavers. Pratt's Princess Anderson was the top performer of the game, scoring an impressive 29 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Macy Hanzlick contributed a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Up next for the Beavers is a home game on Friday, Feb. 16 against McPherson College (JV) in the Beaver Dome. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
