Ravens Defeat the Indy Pirates 95-77 to End the Regular Season

Independence, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team defeated the Pirates of Independence 95-77 to end their 2024 regular season.  With the victory, Coffeyville improved their 2024 overall record to 13-17 including a 9-15 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.  The 9-15 conference record will have the Ravens as the eighth seed in the Region VI Championship Tournament.

Riding the home crowd, Indy jumped out to an early 11-4 lead over Coffeyville to start the game.  The Red Ravens took their first lead at the 8:49 mark of the first half as freshman guard Jahni Summers sunk a shot to give the Ravens a 22-21 lead.  The Ravens built a seven-point lead to go into halftime with a 43-36 halftime lead.

Coffeyville put the pressure on the Pirates in the second half where they outscored the Pirates 52-41 to finally post the final score of 95-77 in favor of Coffeyville.

The Red Ravens played seven players in the game with five of the seven reaching double digits in scoring.  Red Raven freshman Jahni Summers led Coffeyville in scoring with 23 points while grabbing 5 rebounds.  Sophomore Cris Carroll posted 21 points to go along with 12 rebounds to earn the 21/12 double/double.  Freshman big man Charles Caporaso put in 18 points while freshman guard Brian Griffith had 14 points and freshman guard Jayven Cofer had 13 points.

As the eighth seed in the Region VI Championship Tournament, Coffeyville will host the #9 seed Pratt Beavers in Nellis Hall on Saturday, March 9th.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
