The Beaver men's basketball team was back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 14 hosting the Pirates of Independence Community College. Pratt came up big in the game with a final score of 103-72 in favor of the Beavers. The game started off with a close first half, with Independence trailing by only three points at halftime 46-43. The Beavers wasted no time in the second half, outscoring their opponents by 28 points to secure a comfortable victory.
For the Beavers, Zion Cruz was the top performer, scoring 21 points and dishing out 7 assists. Caleb Smith and Davonte "Bubba" Russ also had strong games, scoring 13 and 15 points, respectively. Russ added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Pratt shot 53.9% from the field with a 33.3% percentage from the three-point arc. Pratt finished the game with 44 rebounds. The victory for Pratt Community College improves their overall record to 7-17, with a conference record of 5-14.
Up next for the Beavers is a home contest against McPherson College (JV) on Friday, Feb. 15. Tip-off at 7:30 PM.
