Lady Roadrunners split four games

March 21 Independence Community College at Independence, Kansas

SFCC split a pair of games, losing game one 6-1 before bouncing back to win game two 5-4 against Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas on Thursday, March 21.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to six hits. Utility player Bailey Haselhorst had a hit and a stolen base. Haselhorst scored the only run of the game for SFCC. Middle infielder Sami Picha, catcher Paige Klinge, outfielder Becca Hall, first baseman/second baseman Danika Sickle and catcher/third baseman Lia Hill had one hit each in the contest. Klinge drove in the only run for SFCC.

Pitcher/first baseman Kiara Sodini went the distance for SFCC and pitched six innings, gave up six runs, (four earned runs) on eight hits and struck out one.

In game two, outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey had two hits, including a double and a run scored. Hall also had a pair of hits, including a double and a run scored. Sodini contributed a double and a run scored. Haselhorst hit a home run and drove in three runs. Sickle recorded an RBI. Hall and Winfrey each stole a base in the game.

Pitcher Charlee Reese got the start for SFCC. Reese pitched three innings, gave up three runs on three hits, walked two and struck out one. Pitcher Grace VanDenburgh pitched four innings in relief, gave up one run on three hits, struck out three and walked two.

March 23 Jefferson College at Sedalia

SFCC (13-15, 7-3 in Region 16) split a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader with the Jefferson College Lady Vikings at Mandy Thomas Field on Saturday, March 23 in Sedalia. SFCC won game one 2-1 before falling in game two 20-9 in five innings.

In game one, Klinge had a pair of hits, including a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Picha added a double and a run scored. Haselhorst, Winfrey and third baseman Myla Inman each had a hit in the game.

Sodini got the start for SFCC and pitched seven innings, gave up one unearned run on five hits, struck out one and walked two.

In game two, the SFCC offense produced 11 hits. Klinge hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs. Haselhorst had four hits, including a home run and a double, two runs scored and four RBIs. Hall had a pair of hits and a run scored. Sodini had a hit and two runs scored. Middle infielder/outfielder Emily Burke drove in a run.

Pitcher/utility player Aireanna Hoeppner got the start for SFCC and pitched 2 2/3 innings, gave up 11 runs on six hits, struck out four and walked six. VanDenburgh pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, gave up eight runs (five earned runs) on 10 hits, struck out one and walked one.
