Pirates drop two against KCK

Closing out their most productive month of the season, the Pirate Softball team (13-33) dropped two close games on the road against a potent and talented KCK Blue Devils (37-11) squad.

In a defensive showdown for the top of the double header, the Pirates lost game one by a single run, with a final score of 3-2. For the second game of the evening, the bats were a bit more alive for both teams. The Pirates hung in till late, dropping the second game 11-7.

While a pair of losses might not feel good at first, it was a stark improvement from the matchup in late march between the two teams, when the Pirates lost both by a combined score of 24-7. The month of April has shown that the ICC Softball team has committed to getting better, and a strong showing on the road against a team like KCK is something to build on going into May.

The Pirates are back at home for their next matchup, taking place this Thursday against Johnson County. It is ICC Softball Sophomore Day.
