Pirates split with conference rival Coffeyville

It's always a classic when Independence and Coffeyville connect, whether it be the hardwood, gridiron, or the softball diamond. April 21st was no exception. Both teams, desperate for wins, came to play and ended up splitting the double header.

The Red Ravens took the first game by a blistering score of 14-12. They led for the majority of the match, scoring 9 runs by the second inning. The Pirates closed strong in the 7th, with a two shot home run to pull within a pair, but strong defensive play by CCC closed out the first game with a victory for the visiting squad.

ICC rallied back in game #2, dominating from the very first pitch. The Pirates owned the scoreboard with a win of 12-4, the outcome rarely in doubt.

The Pirates go on the road for the first time since April 6th, when they will travel to Hesston College this Saturday, April 23rd. They'll be back home on the 27th against Cloud County.
