Labette Cardinals sweep Pirates in two close games

In a double header under the hot spring sun and with winds up to 20 miles per hour, the Indy Softball team clashed with local conference foe Labette County.

The Pirates (8-26) dropped both games, with a single run the difference in both matches. The first of the double header was a dream game for fans of high scoring affairs. With a final score of 13-12, the Pirates blitzed the opposing pitchers, especially in the 4th inning. Crossing the plate 7 times, including 3 home runs, the Pirates showed how they've committed to working on their craft and are a potent offensive team. Both teams went back and forth the rest of the way, with the Pirates dropping the game by just one run.

The second matchup was a more defensive minded game. The final score was 5-4 in favor of the visiting Cardinals. Indy battled down to the very last batter, and had several opportunities throughout the game to take the lead. Both teams were very evenly matched, with a final run tally on the day of 18-16.

The Indy Pirates will be back home on April 14th when they face off against Allen County.
