The ICC Softball team split with conference foe Fort Scott Greyhounds on Saturday, April 9th.
The Pirates took the first game by a score of 6 to 5. Clawing back from a 4-1 deficit, the Indy softball team raced to 5 runs in the 5th inning, including 2 home runs. While they gave up a homerun to the Greyhounds at the top of the 7th, they held on with a tag out at 3rd for the finishing out. The Pirates were led by at the plate by Jamie Keeling (Short Stop) with 3 hits, and Kenna Furgeson (Pitcher) with 2 and 2 RBI. Ferguson also faced 30 batters at the mound, and struck out 5.
The second game of the double header featured a Fort Scott win by a score of 5 to 4. The Greyhounds capitalized late with five runs unanswered, and the Pirates couldn't quite match them at the plate. Indy was led by Kelly Baker (Catcher) with 2 hits, and Mikalle Pair (2nd Base) with 3 hits.
The Pirates return to action at home this Tuesday, April 12th vs Labette County.
