Pirate Softball falls to Connor State in home opener

On Friday, March 4th the Indy Pirates (4-10) Softball team dropped their home opener double header against the visiting Connor State College Cowgirls (6-10).

The 2pm game came down to the wire, with the Pirates losing by one run, 7-6. Several Pirates managed to get on base, and were led by Kelly Baker (catcher) with two scored runs and one RBI.

With the bats for both teams warmed up, the 4pm game was exciting through the seven innings. Despite the fact the Pirates lost, 11-7, they had plenty of chances and kept themselves in the game right up to the bottom of the seventh, scoring a run in the final inning, but unable to complete the comeback. Led by Jamie Keeling (shortstop) with three hits, and three runs scored, the Pirates also received great production from Sarena Sanders (right fielder) who scored two runs.

The Pirates next game will be on the road, when they travel to Ottawa University on Thursday, March 10th.

Their next home game will be Saturday, March 19th against conference foe Allen County.
