Beavers Drop First Game in a 3-2 Showdown Against Indy

Pratt, Kan. – The Pratt Community College (PCC) volleyball team opened their season on Tuesday, August 23 in front of a packed Dennis Lesh Sport Arena. The Independence Community College (PCC) Pirates were in town for a 4:00 pm match.

The Beavers wasted no time pulling ahead in Set 1 and eventually winning the first set 25-20. Both Indy and Pratt battled towards the end of Set 2 as both teams had opportunities at set point. Pratt eventually held on to win set two 28-26. The Beavers held a 2-0 lead going into the third set.

The Pirates pulled ahead early in the third set, and after holding off two big rallies from the Beavers won set three 25-21. They would go one to win set four 25-21 as well to tie the match 2-2. Indy continued their dominance in the fifth set as the Beavers could not quite keep up. The Pirates won set five 15-11 and go on to win the match 3-2 after being down 2-0 against Pratt.

Sophomore Reagan Osterhaus lead the team with 32 total attacks with seven kills in the match. Tamara Radovanov, a returning sophomore had eight kills in the match with 17 digs. Libero Brooke Tholen added 17 digs of her own in the match. Finally, both Makenzie Travis and Kaeden Wilson had 18 assists in the match.

Pratt looks to bounce back this Saturday, August 27 against the Friends University (JV) Falcons. Match is set for 2:00 PM in the Beaver Dome.
