Lady Ravens Fall to the Pirates of Indy 62-54

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team lost at home to the Pirates of Independence 62-54.  With the loss, Coffeyville's overall record falls to 15-9 including a 9-9 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.  The 9-9 KJCCC record currently has the Red Ravens in eighth place in the thirteen team KJCCC Div I standings.

Poor shooting cost the Red Ravens in this one.  Coffeyville shot only 27% (16-59) for the game and only a poultry 6% (1/16) from behind the arc.  Indy didn't shoot much better, 34% overall and 20% from the three line, but it was enough to keep the Ravens from the victory.

Indy led by 19 (31-12) at a point in the second quarter before Coffeyville went on a 17-0 run to close the gap to 31-29.  From that point forward, the game was relatively close (4-9 pts) with Indy unable to completely pull away from the Ravens.  However, Coffeyville just could not get over the hump and grab the lead and the Ravens would fall to the Pirates for the 62-54 loss.

Leaders for Coffeyville in the loss included sophomore Faith Simpson who pulled the double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  No other Raven was in double figures, however, freshmen Kennedy Roach and Jordynn Conner put in some work with Roach contributing 6 points and 5 rebounds while Conner pitched in 6 points as well and 6 rebounds.

Coffeyville will return to action on Monday, February 14th for a Valentine's home matchup with the Thunderbirds of Cloud County.  JTip-off in Nellis Hall is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
