Softball Sweeps Indy To Open Season

GAME ONE - Andrea Wilson Drives In Four As Allen Red Devils Defeat Independence CC

Andrea Wilson showed timely hitting on Tuesday, February 23rd driving in four on two hits to lead Allen Red Devils past Independence CC 9-1 in game 1. Wilson drove in runs on a home run in the fourth and a home run in the fifth.

The Red Devils secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by home runs by pinch hitter Kelsey Morrison and designated player Wilson and a single by the center fielder Alayna Brown.

Cynae Wiley got the win for Allen Red Devils. The pitcher surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out four and walking one.

Allen Red Devils collected ten hits. Wilson, Brown, and Kinsey Stuewe each managed multiple hits for the Red Devils. Stuewe, Brown, and Wilson each managed two hits to lead the Red Devils. Allen Red Devils didn't commit a single error in the field. Second baseman, Bella Gravatt had the most chances in the field with five.

 

GAME TWO - Allen Red Devils Victorious Independence CC Thanks To Sixth Inning Boost

Five runs in the sixth inning led the Red Devils past Independence CC 8-2 in game two. Kobe McDonald and Alyson Skaggs all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Allen Red Devils opened scoring in the second inning, when an error scored one run.

The Red Devils tallied five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught came from home runs by pinch hitters McDonald and Skaggs.

Andrea Wilson got the win for the Red Devils. The pitcher surrendered one run on six hits over four innings, striking out three and walking zero. Madelynn Collins threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Collins recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for the Red Devils.

Allen Red Devils totaled 12 hits in the game. Catcher, Trista Argabright, and center fielder, Alayna Brown, each managed multiple hits for the Red Devils. Argabright went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Allen in hits.

 

The Red Devils are back in action this Saturday, February 27th at 11:00a & 1:00p at Humboldt Sports Complex as they take on MCC – Maplewoods.
