Raven Volleyball Sweeps Indy, Loses to Ottawa JV

Coffeyville, Kan. - In a triangular match held on Monday, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Volleyball Team defeated the Independence Pirates 3-0 in the first match of the day.  The Red Ravens lost their second match of the day 3-0 to Ottawa JV.  The win and the loss moves the Red Ravens 2021 overall season record to 8-9 including a 2-3 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matches.

Against Independence, Coffeyville came out strong winning the first set in a close 25-23.  The first set loss for the Pirates seemed to take the wind out of their sails and Coffeyville quickly took the second set 25-15.  The third set saw the Ravens push the attack and they were able to get the sweep with the 25-19 third set score.

Top performers for Coffeyville included sophomore middle blocker Hannah Armstrong who racked up a match-high 14 kills.  Coffeyville sophomore libero Paola Molina pulled out 15 digs for the Ravens and sophomore setter Heather Stiles assisted on 18.  

In the season series, Coffeyville beat Indy in both matches sweeping all 6 sets.

The second match of the day for the Red Ravens saw Coffeyville lose 3-0 to Ottawa JV.  The first two sets went to Ottawa with close scores of 25-23 and 28-26.  The Ravens seemed to lose some steam going into the third set and were defeated 25-16.

Coffeyville's Armstrong had another strong match notching 15 kills.

Coffeyville will return to action with a road match against the Cavaliers of Johnson County.  Game time in Overland Park Kansas is set for Wednesday, September 22nd at 6:00 pm.
