Pirate Softball sweeps past Cloud County

On a beautiful spring afternoon, the ICC Softball team dominated KJCCC conference foe Cloud County in a pair of wins that were never in doubt.

While the T-Birds would score first in game one, a surge in the bottom of the first inning would give the Pirates a 5-1 lead they would never relinquish. A mere 2 runs in the second stretched the lead, and then a blistering 3rd inning would put the game away for good. Ten runs would be scored, featuring multiple home runs and plenty of celebrating in the home team dugout. Cloud would score 2 more runs in the 4th inning, before bowing out by run rule in the fifth inning.

The second game of the double header wouldn't be any kinder to the visiting T-Birds. The Pirates continued to dominate at the plate, winning by a score of 14-0. Leaping out to a 7-0 lead in the first, the Pirates did a fantastic job of sticking together to keep the shutout alive and well through another run ruled 5 inning game. A pair of back to back home runs in the second put the pressure on Cloud, and that coupled with a focused effort from the mound for the Pirates knocked the T-Birds out of the game early.

Indy Softball is back in action this Saturday when they travel to take on KCK.
