Independence traveled to Hutchinson CC, looking for their first victory over the Blue Dragons in 10 years.  After a defensive battle, including the Pirate defense shutting out the Hutch offense throughout the entire 2nd half of the game, Indy walked away with their 2nd consecutive victory and 3rd on the season.

The Pirates came out of the gate slow, but shook off the rust of the bye week after a rough 1st quarter.  Over the rest of the game, Indy limited their mistakes while taking advantage of several fumbles by the Blue Dragon offense and special teams to score the only points after halftime and withstanding one last push by late in the 4th quarter by Hutch.

Regaining possession of the ball with a few minutes remaining, Independence ran for a first down and gained another on a penalty by the Blue Dragon defense to run out the clock and end the game in the victory formation.
