Pirate Football selected to finish sixth in preseason poll

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - The Independence Community College Pirates Football team has been picked to finish sixth in the KJCCC preseason football poll for the 2025 season.

The results come as part of a league-wide vote amongst all of the head coaches to determine the predicted Preseason Order of Finish in the league.

The Pirates are coming off a 3-8 campaign in 2024, but with a new crop of talent, and multiple additions to the coaching staff, Indy will strive for a bounceback season in 2025.

Defending National Champion, Hutchinson was once again picked to win the KJCCC receiving six of the seven first place votes. Garden City received the other lone first place vote as they were picked to finish second.

Independence will square off with the two teams as part of back to back road games in October, as they will head to Hutchinson on October 11th, followed by a trip to Garden City on October 18th.

Butler edged out Coffeyville by two points to land in third place with 31 points, while the Red Ravens came in at fourth with 29 points. The Pirates will open up conference play traveling to Butler on September 20th, while they will round out their regular season on November 15th against Coffeyville.

Finishing just above Independence is Dodge City who comes in at fifth with 21 points, and rounding out the KJCCC preseason poll is Highland who received 13 points in seventh place. The Pirates will host both teams, with Dodge City coming to town on November 1st, and Highland on October 4th, the Pirates conference home opener.
