Known by many in Independence as Mr. and Mrs. T, the couple was a big supporter of Pirate athletics but also contributed to ICC as a whole as instructors, helping tutor students in pursuit of their education. Jeanine was named the ICC Master Teacher of the Year in 2002 and received Professor Emerita from the college in 2012. She also spent time as the librarian at Riley Elementary School in Independence. Jack spent eight years as a professor in the department of technology at ICC. He also worked in drafting/ design for local industries in Independence and Neodesha. He designed an innovative vehicle used for refueling airplanes at all nationwide airports today. The Thompsons moved away from Independence and eventually landed in Mount Juliet, Tenn., in 2002, where they continue to be a strong influence in the community. Jeanine volunteers as a reader while visiting the local Rutland Retirement Home, and she also tutors high school and college students in English, reading and test taking.
