A two-time NJCAA All-American in the Lady Pirate basketball program, Eliza Sokolowska continues to be one of the most decorated players in ICC women’s history. Sokolowska played at ICC from 1992-94 and was a member of a Lady Pirate team that won the Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division and Region VI championships both seasons. ICC advanced to the NJCAA Tournament twice during her time, finishing fourth nationally her freshman year and eighth her sophomore campaign. That second year, Sokolowska averaged 21.3 points per game, which still stands as the highest point average by a sophomore in Lady Pirate history. During that two-year span, Sokolowska won consecutive All-American honors as part of a squad that went 62-11 over that stretch. After her time at ICC, Sokolowska went on to play at the University of California. She was a two-time All-Pac 10 recipient, earning First Team as a junior and Honorable Mention as a senior. During her time with the Golden Bears, she was named the team’s Most Valuable Player twice, leading the team in scoring (876), assists (364) and steals (158) both years. She holds the Cal single-season record for steals with 100. She went on to have a brief stint in the WNBA with the Sacramento Monarchs and also played professionally in Poland and Greece. She is now the owner of Front Porch Design, a home décor and upholstery firm in Oakland, Calif.
