A captain on the 1970 Region VI and the 1971 Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division championship teams, Chester Fuller left Independence Community College as one of its most decorated players. After his two seasons at ICC, in which the Pirates posted a mark of 49-16 during that stretch, he had three season and three career records for Independence. His 1,360 points was a career scoring record that now stands in fourth place. At the time, he also set career marks in field goals with 531 and free throws at 282. He currently sits in ninth place all-time in career assists at ICC with 316. A graduate of Marshall High School in Chicago, Fuller still holds the Pirate record for highest point average by a freshman at 24.9. He was named All-Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division and was selected to the all-tournaments teams at both the Jayhawk Classic and the Oral Roberts Tournament. At the completion of his ICC career, Fuller took his talents to the University of New Mexico, where he was a co-captain his senior season. He averaged 7.1 points per game as a junior and bumped that number up to 12 points an outing during his senior campaign. That season he led the Lobos in free throw shooting percentage at 72.9 percent. After one year as a graduate assistant, Fuller went to work with the Albuquerque Park and Recreation Department, where he retired after 25 years as the Assistant Superintendent of Youth Sports.
