Bill Juby
Title: Athletic Director

For more than 40 years, Bill Juby has been a part of Independence Community College. He started his career as a Pirate in 1966 as a math instructor and the next school year he became the Dean of Men and Director of Student Services. One year later, his title was changed to Director of Student Services and Federal Projects, and he served in that role until the late 1970’s. His focus eventually shifted to Director of Financial Aids and recruiter for the basketball programs … a capacity he held until he retired in 2002. Juby has played a role in Pirate athletics for 33 years, including serving as the athletic director for the 1990-91 school year. He was also involved in recruiting and administering financial aid for the student-athletes in men’s and women’s basketball. Although Juby helped in women’s basketball, particularly with the recruitment of international players, he mainly concentrated on men’s basketball. During his time from 1969-2002, ICC had seven presidents, 10 men’s basketball coaches, two NJCAA national championships, seven Region VI championships and national tournament appearances, 16 Jayhawk East championships including six in a row from 1983-88, 13 NJCAA All-Americans, seven NJCAA All-Tournament selections and two national tournament MVP selections. In all, Juby was involved with the recruiting and the awarding of financial aid support for more than 200 student-athletes.
